Checking
the integrity of Backups
Every company has key critical data
and it is important to maintain this data
in a way that ensures:-
- confidentiality:
protecting information from unauthorised access and disclosure
- integrity:
safeguarding the accuracy and completeness
of information and processing methods
- availability:
ensuring that information and associated services are available
to authorised users when required.
Backing up data is a key part of this, but so often
companies regularly backup each day, but it is not until that fateful
day arises that critical data has to be restored, that the backups
are put to the test.
- Check that you are backing
up all your Critical Data - often programs and computers are
added to a system but the data that they generate gets overlooked
when it comes to the
Backup Process.
- Check that your Backup
process does work- do a test
restore at least once a month
